Board of Directors - 2025 Nominee Expanded Biographies

These individuals are on the 2025 ballot for IFCU Board of Directors class of 2028.

Rev. Dani Castillo

I am excited to submit my nomination for the Board of Directors of Interfaith FCU. I am a local pastor in the United Methodist Church, serving the Hispanic community within the Smoky Mountain District, where I have had the privilege of serving for 18 years. I am currently in my final year at United Theological Seminary, pursuing my Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree, and look forward to graduating next year.

As a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Mexico and a father of five, my family and I have been long-time members of the credit union, having joined when it was still known as Holston Methodist CU and continuing our membership with Interfaith FCU (for over 15 years, I think). We have truly benefitted from the services offered, and I am committed to supporting the diversity values that Interfaith FCU upholds on its board.

I would be honored to contribute my cross-cultural perspective and leadership experience to furthering the mission of Interfaith FCU.

Rev. Dr. Lewis Fry, Director

Lewis Fry grew up in Waco, Texas, where he was active in the Austin Avenue Methodist Church and graduated from Waco High School in 1961.

He received his undergraduate degree at Cal Western University in San Diego in 1965 and his doctorate from the Claremont School of Theology in 1969.

Pastor Fry served UM churches for six years on Maui in Hawaii, 7 years at Van Nuys First UMC, 6 years at St. Mark’s UMC in San Diego, 13 years at St. Paul’s UMC in San Bernardino, and retired in June 2010 from Simi Valley UMC, where he served the last 9 years of his active ministry.

Lew has been seen around the sound console at the University of Redlands for Annual Conference Sessions since 1966, and has served a number of years on the Sessions Committee.

Lew has been on the Board of Directors for the Interfaith Federal Credit Union for about 40 years, where he has been chair of the Policy Committee for a dozen years or so. He is a past treasurer and is currently the secretary to the Board.

He has served in various capacities at the District and Annual Conference levels throughout his ministry. He is currently serving as Treasurer of the District Union of the North District, serves on the Annual Conference Sessions Committee, and on the Boards of the Annual Conference of United Methodist Men, and the Kimball Boyd Coburn Ministries. Lew has been active with the Channel Islands Emmaus Community, where he has served as a Spiritual Director on most of their weekends. Until his recent move, Lew was active with the Simi Valley UMC Chancel Choir and UMM.

Lew and his wife Mary moved in late 2018 to Pilgrim Place in Claremont, and are loving this change in their lives. Lew has continued his contributions to the Audio/Visual work at Pilgrim Place.

Lew and Mary have two children and four grandchildren, of whom they are, of course, very proud.
